Urgent Call to Action: Fight Against North Carolina's Harmful Vape Bill H. 900

We are at a critical juncture in our fight against the misguided vape legislation in North Carolina. Last Thursday, the PMTA Legislation H. 900 unfortunately passed the Senate, and now it stands before the House for a concurrence motion. This means that the House can only vote to approve or reject the Senate's amendment—they cannot make any changes to the bill itself.

The House is scheduled to be in session this Wednesday and Thursday for votes, and H. 900 could be called at any time. We have made significant strides in educating both the leadership and the rank-and-file members of the House about the detrimental impacts of this bill. However, our work is far from over. Now, more than ever, we need your help to keep the momentum going.

Why H. 900 is Bad for North Carolina

The passage of H. 900 would enforce stringent premarket tobacco application (PMTA) requirements on vaping products, which could devastate the vaping industry in our state. These requirements are burdensome and costly, effectively shutting down many small businesses and removing the most popular vape products with adult customers from the market.

How You Can Help: Continue the Call to Action

Your voice is crucial in this battle. We urge every member of the vaping community—businesses and consumers alike—to continue pushing the Call to Action. Here’s what you can do:

For Businesses:

  • Contact Your Representative: Reach out to your local House representative and express your concerns about H. 900. Explain how this bill will negatively impact your business and the broader vaping community.
  • Educate Your Customers: Inform your customers about H. 900 and encourage them to take action. Provide them with the necessary contact information for their representatives.
  • Social Media Advocacy: Use your social media platforms to spread the word about the harmful effects of H. 900. Encourage your followers to participate in the Call to Action.

For Consumers:

  • Reach Out to Your Representative: Call or email your local House representative to voice your opposition to H. 900. Share your personal story about how vaping has positively impacted your life.
  • Spread the Word: Talk to friends, family, and coworkers about the dangers of H. 900. Encourage them to contact their representatives as well.
  • Social Media Campaigns: Share information about H. 900 on your social media accounts. Use hashtags and tag your representatives to ensure your message is heard.

The next few days are crucial. We have a limited window to influence the House's decision on H. 900. Your continued efforts can make a difference. Let's stand together to protect our right to vape and prevent this harmful bill from becoming law.

Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Let's keep pushing forward!
